This season, the Hôtel Caumont unveils a unique exhibition highlighting the talents of Toulouse-Lautrec. From paintings to lithographs, including sketches, we discover the sensitive and benevolent world of the artist.
A pioneer of the modern advertising poster, Lautrec drew on the psychology of his models to reveal their individuality, going beyond their public image. He focused on the details of his muses and the people he met and sketched to enhance the visual impact of his images, which instantly captured the viewer's attention.
Among his muses: Yvette Guilbert and her black gloves – Jane April and her tall hats – Cha – U Kao and her yellow collar…
A subtle and profoundly human observer, the painter offers us, through his works, an intimate and lucid perception of the living spaces of Belle Époque Paris. The Parisian cabarets and theaters, as well as the brothels of this era, are presented here with precision. These emblematic places captivate us and offer us a journey through time and our perception of this period of the 19th century, thanks to the authentic and spontaneous depiction of the bodies and faces that brought them to life.
We ended this wonderful visit with a delicious lunch on the hotel terraces. The service was impeccable, and the dishes, made with fresh, flavorful ingredients, were beautifully presented (we couldn't resist the salad). The flute Delighted).
Definitely our favorite place!
